PRINCE CHARLES WINDSOR

PRINCE OF WALES

Prince Charles of Wales, son of Queen Elizabeth II, was one of the world's most eligible bachelors. He and Lady Diana, though their families were close friends, did not meet until 1977 at a hunting party where they had a brief encounter for the first time. They did not meet again until 1980 when Diana attended on of Charles' polo matches.  They had a chance to talk after the match and Charles immediately recognized that she was special. The two began to spend more and more time with each other and the press was captivated by them. Photographers would surround Diana with cameras and reporters would pester her constantly, but through it all she remained calm and polite. Charles and Diana's relationship became much more well-known and people all around the world loved her. They as well as the royal family were convinced that Charles could not find a better match. Diana fell in love with the prince, and he seemed to care for her too, so the couple got engaged to be married.
